NA LCS Player’s Association chooses pro representatives

Last week, we reported about the North American League of Legends Championship Series Player’s Association (NALCSPA). This week, the Player’s Association has confirmed via Twitter the inaugural group of executive officers.

The Association officers are as follows:

  • Darshan “Darshan” Upadhyaya as President
  • Soren “Bjergsen” Bjerg as Vice President
  • Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng as Vice President
  • Alfonso “mithy” Aguirre Rodriquez as Vice President
  • Vincent “Biofrost” Wang as Secretary/Treasurer

A large group of NALCS players met on June 6, where they all discussed multiple topics on player careers and lives, as well as voted on who would represent the NALCS player base. “Each of these pros will help collect feedback from their peers and identify key issues and actions that they’d like to see the NALCSPA tackle,” said the NALCS Player’s Association on Twitter.

Meet the NALCSPA Representatives

Players chosen as reps for the NALCS had to be vocal and engaged throughout the League community. Given this context, most of the elections make sense. For example, Bjergsen and Doublelift are both prominent members in the esports scene. Bjergsen has 1,435,000 followers on Twitch and is one of the most popular players in the world.  Doublelift is arguably the most popular NA born player of all time, with 1.1 million Twitch followers of his own. He is also known to be very outspoken and is never scared to tell the world how he feels. It would be important to have someone like Doublelift to speak upon problems that many may not be comfortable bringing up.

Biofrost is a relatively quiet player in the NALCS but has proven to be a smart, active member of the League scene. He is also known to be calm and collected during many difficult situations. These traits would make Vincent a perfect member of the NALCSPA, as well as a good Secretary and Treasurer. This may be Mithy’s first year in the NALCS but he too is a smart player who is active within the league. It would also make sense that he is on the team to help represent import players who join North America.

Making Darshan the president of the Association is a great move. He is one of the longest tenured NA born players and is very kind and understanding. If there was one person who could represent the needs of the NA player base, it would be him. However, all five of these players will help create an NALCSPA that makes smart and just decisions.
