The NBA 2K League announced Anheuser-Busch as its newest partnership. The multi-year partnership will place the Bud Light brand as the league’s official beer partner. The exact terms of the partnership details were not revealed. However, the reveal did mention that activations would happen in the future.

Anheuser-Busch’s Bud Light

“The NBA has been a tremendous partner for Anheuser-Busch already and aligning with one of the most exciting esports leagues out there positions us great for the future as we continue to see the esports space grow,” wrote Nick Kelly, the Head of US Sports Marketing at Anheuser-Busch. “Bud Light was one of the first adopters of esports years ago and this NBA 2K League endorsement is another pillar of the brand’s overall esports strategy.”

Bud Light most recently was also named the official beer patron for Activision Blizzard’s Overwatch League for the 2019 season. Anheuser-Busch had filed trademarks for phrases like “the official beer of esports” and “the official beer of gaming” earlier this year. Another trademark includes “the official beer of gamers.” The phrase has not been used by the brand yet but will probably be seen soon in advertisements.

NBA 2K League

The most recent partnership for the NBA 2K League was with Snickers. Other partnerships also include gaming-related brands like Dell, Intel, HyperX, Raynor Gaming, and SCUF Gaming. Other companies consist of AT&T, Champion, Intel, Stance, and New Era. The league is also affiliated with Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook.

This announcement comes on the same weekend as the 2019 NBA 2K League Finals. The victory went to T-Wolves Gaming, esports team of the Minnesota Timberwolves. What do you think about this new partnership with Bud Light? Snickers is a brand that everyone of any age can enjoy, but Bud Light is only for those over 21.
