The National Basketball Association (NBA) and USA Basketball have announced a streaming partnership with Twitch. With this collaboration, Twitch will live stream all of the USA Men’s National Team exhibition games. The deal extends until the end of 2020. This will also include major events like the 2019 FIBA World Cup and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

USA Basketball

Twitch will also live stream a few USA Women’s National Team games, USA Basketball 3×3 events, and the 2020 Nike Hoop Summit. Also covered will be men’s and women’s training camps as well as other USA Basketball events. Twitch will also allow other streamers to stream the events and add their own commentary.

“Bringing USA Basketball programming to Twitch is an exciting next step in our partnership,” said David Denenberg, the Senior Vice President of Global Media Distribution and Business Affairs with the NBA. “Twitch shares in our commitment to innovation and using technology to improve the live game viewing experience for basketball fans around the world.”

Twitch will also collaborate with USA Basketball on other opportunities. These include things like interactive overlays or plugins displayed on the stream. This will allow fans to engage with the viewing experience itself and other viewers as well.

Twitch livestreams

Twitch already currently broadcasts the NBA G League and NBA 2K League’s regular season. The platform also offers content of other sporting leagues like the National Football League. With many of Twitch’s viewers also being sports fans as well, this is a great way to attract viewership toward USA Basketball events.

All USA Basketball content will be available on the official NBA Twitch channel. After each live stream, the content will also be available in VOD form.
