Nerd Street Gamers partners with We Are Nations

Philadelphia-based esports infrastructure company Nerd Street Gamers has announced a partnership with esports merchandising company We Are Nations. The two companies will collaborate together on retail spaces inside Nerd Street’s Localhost facilities, with merchandise being supplied by We Are Nations.

“Localhost is a hub for gamers of all skill levels, across every gaming community,” said John Fazio, CEO and Founder of Nerd Street Gamers, in a release. “Our national expansion provides a rare opportunity for strategic retail partnerships such as the one we are launching with We Are Nations.”

The partnership will start with a Black Friday event being hosted at Localhost Philly and Localhost Denver, two gaming cafe locations owned by Nerd Street Gamers. Both locations will offer esports merchandise, gaming equipment, and gift cards for Localhost gaming time available at a special price. Merchandising and apparel make up about 10% of revenue for esports businesses, with up to $103 million generated in the industry during 2019.

“After first meeting with Nerd Street Gamers we were extremely impressed by their growth opportunities and plans for the future,” commented Alaina Gossett, Director of Retail & Licensing for We Are Nations. “We are excited to partner with such an impactful organization within the esports and gaming world. We believe their plans to impact the local scene will pave the path between the amateur and pro sides of esports.”

This news comes after Nerd Street Gamers established a partnership with discount store chain Five Below, after raising $12 million in its Series A funding round. In 2020, the two companies will join forces to start construction on 3,000-square foot Localhost spaces inside select Five Below stores. It also plans to build 50 larger regional and university-based facilities, which includes an esports training facility at Rowan University.
