It’s Christmas Eve, and the Valorant devs are giving fans an early Christmas present in the form of a new Ask Valorant. This time, they discuss coming changes to the Valorant rank system, crosshair complaints, and the story behind the game.

Here’s what the devs had to say and what might be in store for us in the future.

Rank system changes are on the way

The biggest change coming to Valorant soon seems to deal with the ranking system. Ian Fielding, the senior producer of the game, had this to say on the topic in the latest Ask Valorant:

To be specific with Patch 1.14’s updates, we updated our rank distribution to make it easier to climb out of the lower ranks, significantly reducing the number of players in Iron and increasing the players at Bronze through Diamond ranks (Immortal+ will stay roughly the same). With patch 2.0 (early January), we’re going to add increased protection for rank demotions, while giving you some initial buffer room after you gain ranks. There are also going to be a TON more changes to the rank system with Episode 2, and we’ll have more info on that to come in early January next year.

So, if you’re hard stuck in Iron, you might find it easier to get into Bronze next year. Don’t get your hopes up too high though; you will still have to improve to climb beyond that!

Riot discusses the story behind the game

Riot responds to another notable question in this Ask Valorant about a possible story mode. As of right now, it doesn’t seem like there is anything in the works in terms of a story mode. Riot does seem to be teasing at new information regarding lore, however, and it looks like we will definitely learn more at the beginning of Episode 2.

The next episode begins in mid-January, so be sure to stay tuned for more information on that. We already know there will be a new Agent. We will surely learn more in the coming weeks!
