North confirms sale of Valde to an unnamed team

Denmark esports organization North has confirmed the sale of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CSGO) player Valdemar “valde” Bjørn Vangså to an “unnamed team” in a recent announcement. The 24-year-old joined North in August of 2017 and has since achieved multiple first-place finishes at DreamHack events with the organization.

North sells valde

“Hey guys. As you all might already know, the time has come for me to try something new and go down a different path in my career,” said valde in a statement. “I could feel within myself that it is the right decision, and it is always with mixed feelings leaving something behind that has been a huge part of your life for more than two years now. I got to play 35 tournaments and lift four trophies during my time in North, and all of them played a role in creating some of the most memorable moments I have in my life.”

Valde first started competing in 2016 with teams like PRIES, Team Singularity, the Copenhagen Wolves, unu AiN, Team X, and Heroic. He later joined North and achieved 2nd place at 2017’s DreamHack Masters Malmö event for his first tournament with the organization. This positive trajectory continued at many of the DreamHack Open events attended. However, North didn’t perform well at any of the Majors, with bottom-half bracket placements at 2018’s Boston ELEAGUE Major, 2018’s London FACEIT Major, and 2019’s StarLadder Berlin Major.

Is OG the unnamed team?

“North has a lot of untapped potential. With a new and clear strategy, which we’re working hard on finalizing at the moment, both in the sporting and in the rest of the organization, I believe that we’ll develop strongly in 2020,” said Christopher Håkonsson, CEO of North. “We’ve got some super exciting announcements in the pipeline that we’re looking forward to show the world.”

North have since signed former OpTic Gaming player René “cajunb” Borg as a replacement, who joins Philip “aizy” Aistrup, Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjærbye, Nicklas “gade” Gade, and Jakob “JUGi” Hansen on the lineup. Torbjørn “mithR” Nyborg is the coach.

North has stated that valde has been sold to an “unnamed team.” However, it is most likely European esports organization OG, most well known for its The International championship Dota 2 team. With Aleksi “Aleksib” Virolainen and Nathan “NBK-” Schmitt, valde would be a great addition.
