Just days after massive complaints including the lack of announcement for the Oceanic RLCS, LPL has announced its next event: the LPL Pro Rocket League Oceanic Championship. A $75,000 prize pool for the Oceanic RLCS League means an increase of 50% over last season.

Oceanic RLCS finally announced
The announcement comes after complaints from the community as well as professional Oceanic players that nothing had been announced while Europe and North America begin their leagues in less than two weeks. In the meantime, Collegiate Rocket League for North America was announced as well, which rubbed Oceanic fans the wrong way. Fortunately, they now know what’s in store for them and will fight for an increased prize pool, a very welcome announcement.

The two teams from Oceania that have already qualified are Renegades and Canberra Havoc, who played at the RLCS Season 8 World Championships last December. The other six teams will fight for a spot through the open qualifiers, which will be held on Feb. 8 and 9.
After seven weeks of round-robin, League play will culminate in a regional playoff LAN tournament in Auckland, New Zealand on April 11 and 12, where the top four will battle for the title of Oceanic Champion and two spots for the RLCS Season 9 World Championships. Where and when the world championships will be held is yet to be announced, but they are expected to be sometime in May or June in North America. This will likely be made public during the first week of North American League Play on Feb. 1.
Registration is open now for residents of the Oceanic region and will close on Feb. 6. The league will be played every Sunday from Feb. 23 until April 5 at 12 p.m. NZT, which translates to 12:00 a.m. for CET, while for North America it will still be Saturday, at 3:00 p.m. PT / 6:00 p.m. ET.
