Breakdown

All of the cycling lands tap for only one color and cycle for that same color. They enter tapped but give you an upside if you can trade them in for better cards later in the game. Control decks in Modern may try a couple of these lands. However, we do have the bicycling lands already in Modern, and no decks play them at the moment. Being one mana less to cycle might be enough for control decks to try, but that remains to be seen. RB Hollow One might also try a Barren Moor or Forgotten Cave in order to have an extra card to cycle to turn on Hollow One.

Tectonic Reformation

Have you ever wanted to cycle your extra lands all the time? Well, Tectonic Reformation has you covered!

For 2 mana in red, Tectonic Reformation gives every land in your hand cycling for 1 red. It also cycles itself for 2 mana. A simple effect, but it could potentially be very powerful. It could be combined with the new Planeswalker Wrenn and Six, letting you draw an extra card for one mana every single turn. It also lets you potentially cycle everything in your deck for free with New Perspectives. Could a new cycling deck emerge in Modern? We’ll have to wait and see, but Tectonic Reformation definitely gives a sweet option for brewers to try out.
