OpTic Chicago squared off against the Toronto Ultra on day three of the Call of Duty League Super Week. While the match had some hype going into it, it ended up featuring one of the biggest map blowouts in CDL history.
Coming into Super Week, Toronto was actually ahead of OpTic in the standings, and was coming into today after their loss to Atlanta FaZe yesterday. Although, those bragging rights are now gone for the Ultra, as they lost by a score of 1-3 against Chicago.
The final score isn’t what had the community abuzz though; it was the score of the first Hardpoint match.
 OpTic takes care of Toronto
The match between two upper half-standing CDL teams started out innocently enough. A Hardpoint on Checkmate was no cause for concern for either team, as each hadn’t played the map in a series this year.
However, the map quickly evolved into one of the worst scorelines ever seen in a CDL match. At one point, OpTic Chicago was up by a score of 222-8. In a professional setting, that scoreline is almost unheard of. While Toronto was able to climb back to a somewhat respectable score, they still lost the map 250-68.

Brandon “Dashy” Otell and Dylan “Envoy” Hannon each had huge games, with Envoy going double-positive and flanking Ultra all around the map. For Dashy specifically, this match was a bit of revenge, as Toronto defeated his OpTic Gaming L.A. last year 250-49 at CDL Minnesota.
Call of Duty League Super Week has produced some incredible matches from a statistics perspective. Not only did OpTic Chicago defeat Toronto with a ridiculous Hardpoint score, but the New York Subliners won the fastest match of Control ever against the London Royal Ravens.
According to New York’s stats expert, JPKrez, the match only took a combined 5:36 between all of the rounds. This beats the previous record that 100 Thieves held since Black Ops 4. Strangely enough, both the Control match and OpTic’s Hardpoint blowout against Toronto took place on Checkmate.
I'm pretty sure we just won the fastest Control map ever in a pro match (5:36 start to finish on Checkmate).
Previous record: 100T vs. Midnight Arsenal (BO4 Champs) 5:40 start to finish.
