Envoy announced on Twitter that he was an unrestricted free agent for the offseason on Aug. 28. His announcement comes almost one week after OpTic Chicago was eliminated from Call of Duty League Champs.

Since the Call of Duty League was franchised in 2019, Envoy has been on Chicago’s roster which was split between the names Chicago Huntsmen and OpTic Chicago. Before franchising, Envoy was one of the best players on Gen.G’s roster in Black Ops 4. Gen.G was Envoy’s first professional team that had him playing on the big stage. Even further back in his career, Envoy played on top-tier challenger teams like Midnight Esports and Team WaR. Now, after OpTic disappointed during Champs, they are making changes to their current roster.

Envoy joins many others in free agency

OpTic Chicago wasn’t the only top team to make big moves during the offseason. Envoy joins both Ian “Crimsix” Porter and Reece “Vivid” Drost from Dallas Empire as a free agent in the offseason. Both Dallas Empire players announced they are looking for a new team to call home next season. While Dallas Empire placed better than OpTic during the regular season and Champs, they still made changes to their roster. On top of these two teams making changes, some of the bottom teams have also begun making changes to their roster as well.

Before Champs concluded, the Seattle Surge released their entire roster. That left Sam “Octane” Larew as a free agent and put one of the best assault rifle players in the game on the market. Shortly after Seattle released their roster, Paris Legion followed suit by releasing their entire roster as well. OpTic Chicago themselves have yet to announce Envoy’s departure from their roster.
