It’s a bad day for OpTic Gaming and their Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) team. During the eXTREMESLAND 2018 Asia Finals, OpTic India player Nikhil ‘forsaken’ Kumawat was found to be cheating mid play. The resulting discovery has resulted in OpTic India being disqualified and dismissed from the entire tournamnent. Furthermore, OpTic India has since terminated forsaken’s employment and released the rest of the OpTic India CSGO roster.

The Cheating Incident At eXTREMESLAND

On October 19, 2018, it was CSGO2ASIA (from their Twitter) that initially reported on this particular incident at the eXTREMESLAND CS:GO Finals. The claim was that forsaken was using AimBot programs to artificially enhance his play.

What prompted the investigation into forsaken was a clip pulled from Twitch Streaming on the ESL CSGO channel. In the clip, forsaken’s aim in a match exhibits the tell-tale jerking of direction that is easily associated with various aimbot clients used in first-person shooters.

Having been made aware of the issue, officials went to investigate forsaken and his rig. Forsaken reportedly waved away official and refused to allow his PC to be check. However, upon insistence, forsaken was apparently blatantly seen minimizing the CSGO game and quickly attempting to close the program.

The incriminating attempt was observed by officials and the judgement was then made to remove forsaken and OpTic India from play.

The Nuclear Fallout For OpTic India CSGO

After being removed from the tournament, OpTic India was quick to go to social media an release a statement about the embarrassing event. Not only was forsaken immediately fired from the OpTic India team, but the rest of the CSGO roster was also let go. It is unknown at this time if any of forsaken’s fellow OpTic CSGO players or coaches were aware of his cheating

As unfortunate as it is for the rest of the OpTic India roster, the concern is likely that synergies have been broken and damage has been done. Getting another player on such short notice would be an issue in of itself, but forsaken’s actions undoubtedly draw bad attention upon his teammates as well. OpTic India’s decision to start from scratch is a shame for any of forsaken’s team mates who had no idea, but it is not an unexpected move given the circumstances.

Forsaken could not be reached for comment, but we will have more on this story if further information becomes available.
