Overwatch All-Star Weekend dates and events announced

Each year the best Overwatch League players from the Atlantic and Pacific divisions get together to showcase their skills in a series of games and events. 2020 has presented its challenges, but the Overwatch All-Star weekend will still happen, and in fact, there will be two this year.

Overwatch All-Star weekend dates and times

Instead of the traditional Pacific vs. Atlantic, there will be two separate regions—North America and Asia. Fans got to vote for the All-Stars and each team got at least one representative. The regions are based on where the players live, and not by which teams they play on.

Asia’s All-Star weekend will be on Saturday, September 26 from 1:00-7:00 AM PT and North America’s will be on October 3 from 12-4 PM PT.

The events

There will be several events for the All-Stars to compete in. Here’s what they are:

Who is Meta?

The eight players in Asia with the best Fleta Deadlift percentages will compete in a Hero Gauntlet match.

Ana Skills Challenge

Nine All-Star Ana players will play in an Ana free-for-all on Black Forest. The top four will advance to the final on Necropolis. The match will end when a player gets 20 eliminations or after five minutes.

Genji Skills Challenge

Four Genji players will duke it out in a 1v1 single-elimination tournament. The opening round matches will be first to three eliminations and the finals will be first to five. The Genji Skills Challenge will take place on Castillo.

Winston Skills Challenge

The Winston Skills Challenge features four players in a 1v1 single-elimination tournament, but with a twist. The first Winston to push a neutral Wrecking Ball into the Ilios Well gets a point. The first Winston to two points wins the first round and in the finals the first to three wins. Each Winston will have unlimited Primal Rage to do this. Players can also score by knocking the other player off the map.

Widowmaker 1v1 Presented by State Farm

Players will go head to head in first-to-5 elimination (finals will be first-to-7) 1v1 matches on Widowmaker. The tournament is randomly drawn. Players cannot use their assault rifle, there is no capture point, and there are no body shots. If there isn’t a kill in five minutes, the round resets. Players cannot crouch more than twice per second.

T-Mobile Talent Takedown

The Talent Takedown is a 6v6 match between members of the Overwatch League talent teams with specific rules chosen by the teams. The buffs are different in North America and Asia.

The All-Star Game

Lastly, there’s the Overwatch All-Star Game itself. Each coach will draft out of the different players and they will play 6v6 matches in a three map set.

Winners of each tournament will get to take home cash prizes. You can catch all the action on the official Overwatch League YouTube Channel!
