Overwatch fans, welcome the newest team to the Overwatch League! Paris Eternal is joining the league for the 2019 season!

Paris Eternal would host an unveiling party today in Paris, at The Wagram Pavillon. They would show off their team name, branding and in-game skins. The Paris colors are a navy blue, maroon red, and gold. The team logo is a rooster, which is actually the unofficial national symbol of France as a nation. It is also in-use by other French companies and teams, such as Team France’s FIFA World Cup kits and rugby teams.

At the announcement, several key figures in the Overwatch scene would be in attendance. For example, league Commissioner Nate Nanzer would be a speaker at the event. He would address the European Overwatch fans, and how he appreciates their support even with the late start times. He would then state that the second season of Overwatch League would have earlier start times. This is great news for fans in Europe and should be fine for North American viewers as well.

Paris Roster

The Paris Eternal roster was also in attendance for the event. The team boasts the only roster in the Overwatch League to consist of only European players. For example, the team has multiple players from France, like DPS player Terence “SoOn” Tarlier and tank main Benjamin “BenBest” Dieulafait. Amongst them are other big European names, like DPS George “ShaDowBurn” Gushcha and budding star UK support, Harrison “Kruise” Pond.

Julien “daemoN” Ducros is coaching the team and is one of the younger coaches in the league. He was also the coach of Team France at the World Cup this year. Although the team did not have the best performance, he should still be a great coach for this new team. Also, the team’s DPS duo has the potential to be one of the best in the league, and Kruise put up a great performance at this year’s Overwatch World Cup. There is a lot of potential for greatness here in Paris.

Community Reaction

The community has had mixed reactions to the reveal so far. Many fans are saying that although they like the logo and colorway, the Paris Eternal name isn’t the best. The community is calling it generic and tame, especially with some of the fan-made Paris concepts floating around the internet. Others would point out that there is already an ‘eternal’ city in Europe, which is Rome. However, the reaction to the rest of the branding is mostly positive. Many people are praising the usage of the rooster, and its design.

This reveal also confirms a leak that hit the web yesterday. Reddit user BetterFixThat would release an image with all of the expansion teams’ logos and names. One of the names leaked was the Paris Eternal, with the rooster. They would also leak Chengdu Hunters, Hangzhou Spark, Washington Justice, and Guangzhou Charge. The only team that did not have any information is Vancouver, who has not given any details on their team yet.
