The virtual chickens in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive are often subject to being blown apart, either by malicious intent or sheer accident. Right now, only Inferno from the competitive map pool features CS:GO’s signature poultry. These Inferno chickens received a visual update when Valve gave them new models in the May 2021 update.

At the BLAST Premier: World Final, Natus Vincere player Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskiy killed 20 of the birds; seven more than the next competitor, according to data provided by Scope.gg. A grand total of 175 chickens were killed at the event. The complete top eight players with regard to chicken kills is as follows:

  • Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskiy — 20
  • Denis “electronic” Sharipov — 13
  • Timofey “interz” Yakushin — 12
  • Sergey “Ax1Le” Rykhtorov — 11
  • Dmitriy “sh1ro” Sokolov — 10
  • Valerii “b1t” Vakhovskyi — 8
  • Abai “Hobbit” Hasenov — 8
  • Nemanja “nexa” Isaković — 8

Eight of the top 10 spots are players from either Natus Vincere or Gambit Esports; the two teams in the grand finals of the BLAST World Final. They played more Inferno than any of the other six teams at the event.

The number of chickens killed is heavily correlated to the amount of Inferno games. Still, there are exceptions: players who were able to make it through an entire map of Inferno without harming a single clucking fowl. Both Casper “cadiaN” Møller and Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač are deserving of an animal kindness award, having made it through an entire Inferno without slaughtering a bird.

The other players to not harm any chickens were the entirety of Team Vitality, who didn’t play a single map of Inferno throughout the entire tournament.

The BLAST World Final was the final S-Tier event of 2021. Na’Vi won the tournament, capping off a dominant streak from the squad towards the end of the year. Top tier CS:GO resumes with Intel Extreme Masters Katowice, which runs from Feb. 15-27. Undoubtedly, many more chickens will be killed at the tournament.
