Esports organization Pittsburgh Knights has welcomed Rocket League player Austin “AyyJayy” Aebi to its roster. Along with AyyJayy, the Rocket League team consists of Jirair “Gyro” Papazian and Slater “Retals” Thomas, who will be playing in season 9 of the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS).

AyyJayy eager to play for Pittsburgh Knights

AyyJayy himself is experienced when it comes to playing in the RLCS. He played in three seasons, and two of them were for Rogue. Just last year, AyyJayy was also part of the top four in the world series for RLCS season 7.

In a tweet, AyyJayy politely described Rogue as one of the best esports organizations out there and that he is super excited for his own future. He additionally expressed his excitement in getting to compete against others alongside Gyro.

Gyro is equally as excited to play alongside him. In a tweet, he wrote that he couldn’t think of another player he would want on the team. “This man is an absolute beast and been one of my good friends for years,” he added.

“With the addition of AyyJayy, we look forward to improving from our breakout performance last season,” Garett Bambrough, Pittsburgh Knights’ esports consultant said. “AyyJayy has a more aggressive playstyle which is a great fit for our team. We will hit hard and fast and will continue to be one of the best teams to watch.”

Meanwhile, player Nicholas “Mist” Costello will be moved to the team’s inactive roster. “I have no doubt in my mind that Mist will have a long and satisfying career no matter where he ends up for Season 9,” Julian “Moopy” Amador, the team’s coach, said. “He’s a fantastic player and I truly enjoyed my time working with him. I wish him nothing but the best in the future.”

Recently, the Pittsburgh Knights Rocket League team finished in the top six in the RLCS. Along with AyyJayy, the team is scheduled to compete in season 9 beginning at the start of February.
