More about the Pokkén Tournament DX Game Trial

Pokkén Tournament is a Tekken-inspired Pokémon fighting game that was developed by Bandai Namco. It initially launched in Japanese arcades in 2015. The game saw a worldwide release on the Wii U in 2016, while the deluxe edition launched on the Switch in 2017.

Pokkén Tournament has been a part of the Play! Pokémon competitive circuit since the Wii U version of the game launched in 2016. In addition, it is one of the games included in the ongoing online Pokémon Players Cup. Currently, the reigning world champion for Pokkén Tournament DX is Hiroki “Subutan” Ishida.

With the recent announcement of Pokémon Unite, it seemed that Pokkén could potentially be replaced by another esports title. However, if the upcoming Game Trial is any indication, then The Pokémon Company intends to continue supporting Pokkén Tournament DX.
