Riot Games has revealed plans for old and upcoming Prestige skins in League of Legends. In addition to the new upcoming skins, the older Prestige skins will return to the shop for players to pick up if they missed out during their release events.

The upcoming Prestige skins planned for 2019

In the last quarter of 2019, there are five more prestige skins planned for release. The first is Valiant Sword Riven, which will be released during the 9.19 patch. The patch is set to release this Wednesday, Sept. 25. However, the new event skin might not be available on launch.

Additionally, event-unique skins are planned for both Qiyana and Lee Sin in the remainder of 2019.

Current Prestige Skins - points

New skins are of course in the works as well. This year both Miss Fortune and the support champion Thresh will be receiving a Prestige skin. Prestige points are earned through the event missions or purchasing bundles throughout the year, and they can currently be used to purchase unique skins for 100 points each.

Leftover Prestige Points

After each year, the Prestige Points reset. The intent of this is to not allow players to stock up their points for the next year’s skins, making them far more common on release. Before today, it was unsure how players could spend their leftover Prestige Points at the end of the year before they expired. At the end of the year, there will be several options to spend your points on other options than the 100-point skins.

The main options to spend the points will be through “bags” of skin shards and orange essence. Orange Essence can be used to unlock skins in the Hextech crafting menu. Besides this, there will be options to purchase other loot, such as icons, a new ward skin, or a new emote to use in-game. To spend the last remaining points there will be the option to purchase Hextech keys for 3 points and Orange Essence for 1 point respectively so that no points go to waste.

Changes going forward

Starting in 2020, each year’s Event Prestige skins will be available for purchase during a limited time. This will happen at the end of each year. This is an attempt to allow players who can’t designate a large amount of time required to earn enough points for the event skins to still gain access to them. The skins unlocked after the year do not include the event-only border and icon.

Besides this, from 2020 onward, the Prestige skins will be unlockable through Hextech crafting and re-rolling skin shards in the loot system. Again, unlocking the Prestige skin this way will mean you do not gain access to the loading screen border or player icon.
