Just one day after the big Modern Warfare Season Four update launched, we already have another meta shift. Infinity Ward decided to nerf the MP5 submachine gun in yesterday’s update, causing players to scurry to another weapon. While the developers inadvertently buffed the SMG, the patch still caused many to switch to the Mini-Uzi over the MP5. This included professional Call of Duty League (CDL) players, who starting posting about the Uzi all over social media. Well, it now seems that this popularity has caused pro players to ban certain attachments on the Mini-Uzi.
Mini-Uzi returns to being an afterthought
The Mini-Uzi had less than a day in the limelight of competitive Modern Warfare. On the day of the June 30 update, it seemed like every SMG player in the CDL was using the compact weapon. However, 24 hours later, the gun is seemingly dead in the water after a round of Gentleman Agreements (G.A.).
If you’re unfamiliar with the term “Gentleman Agreement”, you can read our article from earlier this year to learn more. In short, though, a G.A. is an understanding between professional players to not use an item in competitive matches. During Modern Warfare, pros have banned things like killstreaks, Merc Foregrip, and Tactical Sprint via these agreements.
The latest G.A., however, is quite surprising. Announced on Twitter by several pro players, attachments on the Mini-Uzi are now restricted. This is most likely due to CDL players seeing how strong the Uzi was after the MP5 was nerfed.

It’s reported that the restrictions on the Mini-Uzi consist of two ammunition attachments, namely the 10mm and 41AE rounds. These attachments gave the Uzi some extra power; without them, the gun isn’t as strong. So, according to London player Matt “Skrapz” Marshall, players are returning to the recently nerfed MP5.
While it’s still early, it seems that the Modern Warfare meta will still contain the MP5. That said, we could very well see some players experiment with another contender, such as the MP7.
