PSG Kaiwing still believes in the PCS after falling short at Worlds 2021

PSG Talon were officially knocked out of the 2021 League of Legends World Championship on Sunday after a valiant effort in the Group C of the main event. After losing two games at the top of the day, they managed to win their final game of the day against Fnatic before taking their leave.

With their full roster finally able to make an international event, PSG’s eyes weren’t just set on putting up a fight in groups. The kings of the Pacific Championship Series were fully focused on qualifying for the knockout stage.

In an interview at the start of the group stage, Ling “Kaiwing” Kai Wing expressed that it was especially important to him and his bot lane duo Wong “Unified” Chun Kit that they put on a good showing against international bot lanes, specifically Hanwha Life Esports’ Kim “Deft” Hyuk-kyu and Oh “Vsta” Hyo-seong.

PSG ended the Group Stage with a 1-1 record against HLE and, throughout Worlds, Kaiwing held the second lowest team death percentage share out of all supports at the tournament with 16.9%. On paper, it looks like he may have at least come close to accomplishing that goal.

Following his last match of the day, which ended in a blowout victory over Fnatic, Kaiwing sat with Upcomer once more to speak about his thoughts on the team’s performance overall, share old stories about watching Worlds with his friends, and expressed his gratitude to coach Kwon “Helper” Young-jae for his assistance with the team throughout the tournament.

“I really feel like through this whole tournament once we face any questions or issues, our coach would always encourage us and guide us to solve those problems,” Kaiwing said. “We just put our efforts together to solve those issues… I really appreciate that.”
