PUBG introduces the EU teams to the Global Invitational 2018
With only two weeks to go, it’s safe to say we’re excited for The PUBG Global Invitational 2018, the first major international tournament organized by PUBG Corporation, with 20 teams competing for a share of the $2,000,000 USD prize pool over four days in the Mercedes-Benz Arena.
The PUBG Global Invitational (PGI) 2018 is set to take place in Berlin from July 25 to July 29 and will be live-streamed to various sources, including the main PUBG Twitch channel.
EU Qualifiers
From June 29 to July 1, the EU qualifier finals were held, whereby twenty teams competed for the top three slots in the EU region. The teams representing the EU are as follows:
Team Liquid stormed the show during the EU qualifier attaining the top spot overall, however, they now have to face some of the biggest teams in the world for that final prize!
WTSG (Welcome to South Georgo) entered PGI with a formidable set of skills and stable performances, attaining second place overall in the EU Qualifier.
Pittsburgh Knights were efficient with their rounds, had a rocky start with kills, but then secured the third spot during the qualifier finals.
The three teams played extremely well in the EU qualifiers and are now facing a tough set of teams in the PGI final standings in hopes of winning the enormous prize pool.
PUBG Global Invitational announcement
The official PUBG steam community hub page introduced the teams followed by a new video uploaded to the PUBG YouTube channel and Twitter. The remaining teams are yet to be announced to the PGI roster, although the EU is welcomed into the tournament with open arms and I’m sure they’ll put up a good fight!

Teams were allocated points by the place the team finished in the round; several rounds were played and the kills each team had were also added to the final score. The main distribution of points was: first – 500 points, second – 410 points, and third – 345 points. In addition to this, the remaining points were gathered by kills and the places each team finished during the rounds.
Only two weeks to go
The PUBG Global Invitational is going to be one of the greatest live PUBG events to hit our screens. Not only is it featuring some of the best esports teams in the world, it’s also an extremely popular game right now and also my personal favorite! The rounds are expected to go fast due to the blue zone being altered to maximize the thrill for players and the audience, though it’s a huge tournament and anything can happen so we’ll have to wait and see. I think this event will be bigger than the CS:GO ELEAGUE major. Yes… I said it.
In conclusion, a two-week wait is not far! So buckle up, because this is going to be chaos.
