The fight against the COVID-19 pandemic still continues to affect several countries. With a shortage of supplies, masks, and hospital beds, many hospitals are experiencing difficulties in helping sick patients. As esports events and gaming companies close their doors to players and audiences, Razer plans to step up and help.
The CEO of Razer, Min-Liang Tan, has announced their plan to create an influx of surgical masks to send to affected countries. Razer engineers and designers have worked 24-hour shifts to produce surgical masks that will help in the fight against COVID-19. In order to do this, Razer had to convert its existing manufacturing lines to make room for this new production.
Additionally, they will be reaching out to several governments in different regions to help send their masks to priority countries. The ones that are being hit the hardest will receive Razer’s support and donations first.
So I haven’t had much sleep over the past couple of days to get this initiative up and running, but I’m happy to be able to announce this on behalf of the team here at @Razer

Helping during difficult times
The need for surgical masks has been a crucial issue during this pandemic. As some countries and companies donate their own masks, others simply can’t afford to. As of March 18, WHO reports over 191,000 confirmed cases and over 7,000 deaths. The influx of patients in several countries such as Italy and Iran has left hospitals with no choice but to prioritize those with the highest survival chance. Doctors and nurses around the world have shared updates on their supply shortages, such as hospital beds, masks, ventilators, and so on. Fortunately, many wealthy professionals and companies have stepped up, lending a helping hand.
We intend to donate up to 1M masks to the health authorities of different countries globally. For starters, we’ve been in touch with the authorities in Singapore (where the @Razer SEA HQ is based) to donate some of the initial shipments to assist their fight against COVID-19.

In a Twitter thread led by Tan, he shares the importance of helping others during these rough times. “This emergency conversion of some of our lines and donation of masks is the first step of many that Razer will take,” He said. “We are committed to contributing our extra time, resources, effort and talent toward the fight against COVID-19.”
