Reignover will work remotely for Cloud9 at MSI due to immigration reasons

The Korean coach will not be with his players at the international event

Kim “Reignover” Yeu-jin, the head coach for Cloud9, did not travel with the team to Iceland for the Mid-Season Invitational, the organization revealed April 26. In the Tweet, Cloud9 stated the coach must stay behind for immigration reasons and work for the team remotely.

From the landing photo the organization posted, the other coaching staff for the team was leaving for the tournament, including Alfonso “Mithy” Aguirre Rodríguez and Maxwell “Maxwaldo” Waldo.

The Korean coach has been with the organization since 2019 and was named the head coach of the Academy squad for the 2020 season. The team finished first in the regular and post season in both North America 2020 Academy splits. He was announced as the 2021 LCS team head coach in 2021 after long-time head coach Bok “Reapered” Han-gyu stepped down and recently signed with 100 Thieves.

The former jungler played in three different domestic leagues to varying success. In Cloud9’s announcement of his signing, the organization praised his player-focused approach and recent success in the Academy league in their reasons for promoting him.

“His recent maturation into an effective head coach in our Academy system combined with his storied player career is more than enough to convince us he will be a great LCS coach,” Cloud9 League of Legends General Manager Jonathan Tran said. “I am excited to see what he will bring to the table this upcoming season.”

Cloud9 starts their international journey without Reignover May 6 against LCK powerhouse DWG Kia in Group C of the Mid-Season Invitational.
