Complexity Gaming are in talks to sign the core of North American Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Tier 2 team Extra Salt — Johnny “JT” Theodosiou, Justin “FaNg” Coakley and Ricky “floppy” Kemery — along with Team Liquid’s Michael “Grim” Wince and Paytyn “junior” Johnson, according to a report by HTLV.org. Complexity were in talks to sign Danish CS:GO side Copenhagen Flames but those dealings have reportedly stalled according to Dexerto.

The talks with the Extra Salt core are underway, with buyouts already discussed, according to the HLTV.org report.

Extra Salt to make up core of Complexity

Extra Salt are one of the more touted small North American orgs. Before floppy joined the roster, the team’s most impressive finish was at the A-tier event cs_summit 8, where they placed fifth. After floppy joined, the team continued to tear up the second tier scene with a string on first place finishes at qualifiers and a respectable group stage exit at IEM Season XVI Fall: North America.

As for Grim, the Team Liquid rifler has enjoyed his first full year as a consistent player for the organization. He holds a 0.99 HLTV 2.0 rating and 0.93 Kill/Death ratio over the past year. According to HLTV’s form chart, which tracks players’ 1.0 rating through a timeline of events, Grim started the year hot before dipping off in form as time went on. He had a resurgence in September, and his lowest rating was around 0.88.

Junior, on the other hand, has been on loan to Bad News Bears after getting signed by FURIA Esports at the start of the year. The 21-year-old AWPer will be reuniting with Grim as the two played together on Triumph in 2020

Complexity CS:GO rebuilds

Complexity is at a crossroads ahead of 2022. The team parted ways with its roster in October, either through releasing players from their contracts or transfers to other squads. With a blank slate ahead of 2022, the team is seemingly looking for ingrained synergies in their pick ups, with either a full squad like Copenhagen Flames or a core trio of players. One thing is for sure this offseason, Complexity are looking at a full rebuild of their CS:GO roster.
