Randy “RFang” Fang and William “Leffen” Hjelte have made it into Smash Ultimate Summit 2. They were the top 2 finishers at the end of the first voting period on Sept 30. Two more players will earn a trip to Summit, and two others will be eliminated from voting, on Oct 1.
RFang’s friends played a huge part in helping him finish with the most votes. One friend elbow dropped a watermelon in exchange for a $50 donation. Another ate a cockroach and ghost pepper sandwich on stream for $300. These antics even prompted Leffen to call RFang the “meme pick” of Smash Ultimate Summit 2.

Leffen used his Twitter conflict with Saleem “Salem” Young in order to get into Smash Ultimate Summit 2. His campaign slogan seemed to be “a vote for me is a vote against Salem.” Team SoloMid, the organization that sponsors Leffen, even created a sponsored tweet with this reference. Leffen also did things like unblocking Eric “ESAM” Lew on Twitter and promising to stream an hour of Smash 4.
Meet RFang and Leffen: Smash Ultimate Summit 2’s first vote-ins
RFang is currently the No. 1 ranked player in South Carolina. He recently surpassed Christian “Peabnut” Londoño, who was No. 1 on South Carolina’s first Smash Ultimate power rankings. RFang’s best major results of the year came in May, when he placed 25th at MomoCon and 17th at Smash’N’Splash. He has beaten Alexis “Goblin” Stennett, Matt “Elegant” Fitzpatrick, Ramin “Mr. R” Delshad, and Leon “Sonido” Green.
Today’s other Smash Ultimate Summit vote-in, Leffen, is of course best known for his skills in Super Smash Bros. Melee. However, of all predominantly Melee players, Leffen has found the most success in Smash Ultimate as well. He boasts 17th place finishes at both Smash Con and Mainstage, and he placed 33rd at Shine 2019. Leffen has wins over Salem, Troy “Puppeh” Wells, Enrique “Maister” Hernández Solís, and Brett “8BitMan” Esposito this season.
