The day most Valorant players have been waiting for is finally upon us. Riot Games has revealed the newest update, Patch 0.49, will arrive tomorrow, April 29, and introduce Ranked Mode. Both European and North American servers will have access to this patch and Ranked Mode.

For the EU, the update is set to be playable at 9:00 a.m. CET. For North America, the servers will come back up with the new patch at around 10:00 a.m. PT. The update will also bring some bug and Agent fixes to Valorant. Let’s check out what Riot Games has in store for Patch 0.49.

Ranked Mode finally coming

Riot Games announced last week that Ranked would come sometime this week with Patch 0.49. Now we finally have firm confirmation, which is uplifting to many players who thought the patch could potentially be delayed.

Patch 0.49 is the second major update that Valorant has seen. Version 0.48 introduced some nerfs to various Agents, like Raze, but version 0.49 seems like it has more substance. You can view the full patch notes on Riot Games’ Valorant homepage.

Most of the patch includes a variety of map and bug fixes that were found over the past few weeks. There are also some quality of life changes that should make the playing experience a little easier.

In terms of substantial changes, Riot is altering a couple of Omen’s abilities. Here are a couple of the changes coming for the shadow Agent:

  • Omen now immediately becomes vulnerable and no longer appears dark after he leaves his alternate shadow form.
  • The attenuation radius of the arrival sound on Omen’s From the Shadows has been reduced to 2250.

There will also be a fix coming for Cypher’s Cage, which was not included in the patch notes. A developer for Valorant confirmed this in a recent tweet.

Lastly, Ranked Mode will be in-game once the patch goes live. We have no further details besides that it will be included with the patch. Presumably, players will have to play placement matches to earn their rank. Once a rank is achieved, you’ll be placed in lobbies with players of a similar rank. Performing well will increase your rank, and playing poorly will drop you down to lower ranks.
