Riot Games has plans to help stop toxicity in Valorant, and they are planning to hit toxic players where it hurts. In a Reddit thread, a Riot Employee discussed a plan to restrict toxic players from playing rated matches. Here’s more about their plan.

Riot’s plan to ban toxic players from rated games

In a Reddit post, u/SujyP brings up that they don’t think players with chat bans should be able to play rated games. Reddit user RiotBrighteyz responded by saying:

We hear you! We will be preventing players who have been penalized with chat and voice restrictions from playing rank in the next two to three patches. We are actively working on the tech, its taking a little bit longer than anticipated, but we are committed to building it. While we don’t want to make it a requirement that you have to use voice comms in rank (some players may not feel comfortable using voice for a variety of reasons) we DO understand that having players who have already proven they can be highly disruptive with active restrictions in your rank games feels unfair, and we want to prevent that from happening in the near future. We’ll also have additional comms coming out in the coming months around our overall plans to reduce disruptive behavior and make our penalty systems more robust.

His comment speaks for itself. Riot won’t allow players with chat restrictions to play rated matches in the future. This should help discourage toxic behavior. It also helps, because players who can’t communicate on the team have a major disadvantage if all five opponents can.

RiotBrighteyz also mentioned they are working on more communication options that should help players. Be on the lookout for these changes that should help reduce the amount of toxic Valorant players in the next few patches.
