Riot Games dropped a new set of “Arcane” events Monday after Act 1 of the animated League of Legends series premiered. The newly-released content includes an interactive web experience called “Progress Days” that is hosted on the official Riot X Arcane website. The new game allows players to talk to many of the “Arcane” series characters and complete various missions to unlock bonus free rewards in all of Riot’s titles. But many players, especially those using the Google Chrome browser, are having difficulty with game-breaking lag.

Thankfully, there is a fairly simple solution to the freezing and lag issues.

Fix Google Chrome lag on the Riot X Arcane Progress Days website

Many of the players experiencing lag issues in the Progress Days event on the Riot X Arcane website are using Google Chrome. The reason for most of these issues is a pesky little back-end Chrome setting for hardware acceleration.

To fix the lag issues in Chrome, follow this quick step-by-step guide:

  • Launch the Google Chrome browser
  • Click on the three dots in the top left of the screen to open the Menu.
  • Click on Settings.
  • On the left-side menu, click on Advanced and then click on System.
  • Navigate to the “Use hardware acceleration when available” setting and enable it.

And that should do it. Players with hardware acceleration enabled should be able to enjoy a smooth gameplay experience in the Progress Days Arcane event.

Those that are still seeing lag may have a conflict with a plugin or another browser setting. In those cases, try using Incognito mode, a different browser or another device such as a mobile phone.
