Rocket League developer Psyonix and car manufacturer BMW have announced a collaboration. The new BMW M240i enters the game as a playable car before it becomes available in real life, while the company will also be the title sponsor of the upcoming European regional of the Rocket League Championship Series. On top of that, the collaboration also introduces the BMW Freestyle Tournament with a $25,000 prize pool, happening alongside the RLCS event.

The new, real-life version of the BMW M240i is set to become available in January of 2022. However, it will get a head start in Rocket League with a Nov. 4 release. The new battle-car will cost 1100 credits (about $10, as opposed to approximately $46,000 for the real one) and comes with a host of customization options.

BMW to sponsor RLCS EU fall regional 2

BMW is also the title sponsor for the second EU RLCS regional of the fall split, which runs from Nov. 5 through Nov. 7. The event will now be named the BMW Rocket League Open. With Team Endpoint’s upset victory over Team BDS in the first regional on Oct. 24, the first European slots for the upcoming fall major can be claimed. But, before the event begins, Psyonix has brought back a special event with the BMW Freestyle Tournament.

The players invited to the BMW Freestyle Tournament are not necessarily RLCS players, but instead are players who specifically focus on the most technical and outrageous tricks possible. The Freestyle Tournament has been held once before, in February 2021 in collaboration with Ford, where the winner was awarded a 2021 Ford F-150. The winner at the time was YouTube content creator Mesko. This time, instead of a car, the freestylers will compete for a $25,000 prize pool.

The first day of the BMW Freestyle Tournament is set to be held on Nov. 4, a day before the RLCS event begins. The second day will be on Nov. 7, when the RLCS players will also play their Championship Sunday. All events will be broadcast on the main Rocket League Twitch channel.
