Halloween is coming to Rocket League this week with Ghostbusters-themed items. Starting tomorrow, the Haunted Hallows event goes live. This will re-introduce the Ghostbusters items that were obtainable in the summer of 2019 during the Radical Summer event. Also, the game will have limited-time game modes and spooky items in the item shop throughout October.

Haunted Heatseeker is coming to Rocket League during Haunted Hallows

The new mode may sound different, but it’s really just Heatseeker on a spookier map. Still, Heatseeker is a crowd-favorite and holiday-themed maps are always a welcome addition to Rocket League. Spike Rush is also coming back for this event. but unlike Haunted Heatseeker, it is not limited to the Haunted Urban Arena.

Unfortunately, it looks like there are no new items coming with this event, which is disappointing. This does, however, mark the first time that a licensed car in Ghostbusters’ Ecto-1 will make its way to the shop. Psyonix also notes that they are trying to get others, such as Knight Rider’s K.I.T.T. and the Batmobile, back to the item shop.

Of course, a Rocket League holiday event is not complete without the appropriately named item boxes. For Halloween, players will be able to obtain Golden Pumpkins, which can be opened for free for a chance at items from the now-retired lootboxes. Since the free-to-play update, however, events will work a little differently than before. Instead of a currency awarded at the end of an online match that players can use to buy items and pumpkins, players will now go through specific challenges. These challenges will award items, and players who want it all will have to do them all. Fortunately, the challenges are usually very simple.

The Rocket League event will begin tomorrow, October 20, and will run for two weeks. For a preview of the Ghostbusters items, check out the official announcement.
