Seattle Surge drop its entire CDL roster except for Octane

The hits keep on coming for the Call of Duty League rosters. After the switch to 4v4, teams began reworking the rosters and plans they originally had for 2021. As it stands right now, the CDL is in a state of frenzy. Earlier this week, the London Royal Ravens released its whole roster; later, the Toronto Ultra released most of its roster today. In another quick turnaround, the Seattle Surge has revealed that it dropped nearly the entire 2020 roster. All who’s left is CDL Team of the Year member Saw “Octane” Larew.

It was expected that there would significant turnaround for the Seattle Surge. The most disappointing roster from 2020, the squad had insane potential but was bogged down by bad luck and some chemistry issues. However, the organization is looking to turn the tides in 2021.

Earlier this evening, the Surge revealed that nearly every 2020 roster member is now an unrestricted free agent. This includes the following members: Slacked, Apathy, Teddy Recks, Pandur, Proto, and Enable.

Clearly, Seattle feels it’s best suited with Octane moving forward. After all, the assault rifle player was dominant all year despite the team’s lack of success. Presumably, Octane will possess immense control in how the Surge shapes its roster for 2021.

For the time being though, Seattle needs to find at least three starting-caliber players, a head coach, and some kind of analyst. A substitute will also need to be signed, but that won’t happen as soon as signing starters will. According to reports, the free-agent market is wide open, so Seattle has options.

The Call of Duty League Free Agency period begins on September 14, so expect official news starting then. Make sure to keep up with Daily Esports for all CDL news.
