Serious Side Effects is a Gig in Cyberpunk 2077 that has been giving players a fair amount of trouble. The mission itself isn’t difficult whatsoever, but the steps involved can get a little tricky. The game doesn’t give you many tips on what to do, so players can get stumped easily. Luckily, for those in that crowd, we know exactly how to complete this Gig. How to complete Serious Side Effects in Cyberpunk 2077
In order to start this job, you have to go to a specific location on your map. Unlike with side quests, you start Gigs by visiting a yellow question or exclamation mark. Once you’re near one of these, a fixer will call you and give you the Gig to complete.
For Serious Side Effects, El Capitan is the fixer who will ring you up. The marker you want to visit is located in Santo Domingo, Arroyo. You can see the exact location below. Your main objective is to steal beta acid containers from a drug ring.
After starting the job, head to the Dewdrop Inn and talk to the receptionist inside. Rent a room at the motel for 50 eddies and head in through the left door down the hallway. Here, you’ll find an enemy you need to defeat, which is pretty easy. On his computer, you can find out where your target (Booker Updike) is located, which is in Room 103.
Once you reach the room, you’ll find Updike dead in his bed. Scan the room to find out that he suffocated by way of poisonous gas coming from the ventilation system. Naturally, your next objective is to check out Room 203, where the gas originated from.
However, after you go up a floor, you’ll find that Room 203 is locked unless you have a level 16 Body Attribute. If you don’t have that, go into Room 200 and head out to the balcony. Start hopping over the railings until you reach the very end of the motel. The final balcony door should be open and inside you’ll find some enemies guarding the beta acid.
You can choose to sneak in and steal the acid or simply defeat all of the enemies. Either way, retrieve the acid and deposit it into the specified Drop Point on your map. The Gig is done after this happens.
