Seven joins T1’s VALORANT roster

After his departure from 100 Thieves, T1’s VALORANT team have signed Mexican duelist Johann “seven” Hernandez for the 2022 VALORANT Champions Tour, the team announced Monday. On 100 Thieves, he was a substitute during his time with the organization. Now, he has a starting opportunity with a team trying to retool for the VCT 2022 season. This signing presumably fills in the Duelist position left empty after Timothy “autimatic” Ta parted ways with T1.

Seven’s path to T1

Before T1, seven played for one organization so far in his competitive VALORANT esports career, which was 100 Thieves. He joined their roster as a young prospect that could help the team after a semifinal finish at VCT Stage 3 Masters Berlin. As a substitute Duelist he never got any playing time over the experienced roster, spending his time as the only substitute. After those three months, 100 Thieves couldn’t reach the same high as they did at Masters Berlin, failing to qualify for VALORANT Champions by losing in the North American Last Chance Qualifier. With the downturn the team took, they are retooling their roster and seven had an opportunity to leave.

He joins another team looking to rebound after a poor stretch, albeit a longer one. However, with T1, he may start as their Duelist after recent departures. After sitting and watching for three months, seven has his chance to play for T1’s VALORANT squad in 2022.

T1’s future

After this signing T1’s roster now consists of:

• Zander “thwifo” Kim
• Joshua “steel” Nissan
• Rahul “curry” Nemani
• Anthony “dawn” Hagopian
• Johann “seven” Hernandez

Unless a substitute or trade is in the works, T1 has their new 2022 roster completed. Now, the only two remaining players from last year’s squad are curry and dawn. Considering how T1 ranked in comparison to 100 Thieves, the orgs former players steel and seven may have a good opportunity to climb back up the NA VCT standings.
