Overwatch League franchise Shanghai Dragons announced it has parted ways with support Son “CoMa” Kyung-woo. The Chinese esports organization also revealed it had re-signed seven of its past players for the 2020 Overwatch League.

Shanghai Dragons roster changes
“We would like to announce that Gyeong Woo ‘CoMa’ Son will be leaving the Shanghai Dragons as a free agent,” wrote the Shanghai Dragons on Twitter. “After pulling off selfless body blocks, risky rezzes, and the most clutch sound barriers, we thank you for everything this season, CoMa!”
The Dragons have re-signed players Bae “diem” Min-seong, Yang “DDing” Jin-hyeok, Lee “envy” Kang-jae, Kim “Geguri” Se-yeon, Kim “Izayaki” Min-chul, and Yang “Luffy” Seong-hyeon. In addition, the organization has re-signed Weida “Diya” Lu as a two-way player, so he can compete with both the Shanghai Dragons and its Academy team, Team CC.
Compared to most of the other teams in the Overwatch League, the Dragons haven’t made many changes to their roster. Excluding main tank Young-jin “Gamsu” Noh leaving for a position on the Dallas Fuel, the only other roster change was flex player Young-jin “Youngjin” Jin retiring after being released.
Overwatch League results
The Shanghai Dragons hold the record for the longest losing streak of 42 games in a row. However, the Chinese team made the right improvements in the offseason and finished 11th in Season 2 of the Overwatch League. This included 5 – 8th place at the Stage 2 Playoffs and 1st at the Stage 3 Playoffs, with a combined $225,000 in prize earnings.
Season 3 of the 2020 Overwatch League begins in February of 2020, with a home and away game system. With seven players on the current roster, the Dragons will need to find one more before November 15 to follow league rules.
While most of the Dragons lineup is made up of Korean players, newly promoted head coach Byungchul “Moon” Moon is also Korean. The only remaining Chinese player is Diya, and the Dragons may need to pick up two more players instead of one if they plan on him playing mostly for the academy squad.
