Dignitas has added Swedish coach and analyst Mikael “SheddaN” Mellström to their coaching staff as an analyst. After time coaching teams such as Prima eSport and NerdRage, he joins Dignitas to assist in their goal to climb back up to CS:GO glory.

SheddaN’s past in CS:GO and future with Dignitas

SheddaN’s time in CS:GO has been extensively in coaching. He was the main coach for two recent teams, Prima eSport and NerdRage. And, he specifically played for a Swedish organization-less team AWTR and finished third in a Swedish minor tournament. Recently, however, his coaching has helped him gain traction around the CS:GO sphere. While coaching for NerdRage in 2020, the team finished at fourth place at the ESL Premiership Spring 2020. SheddaN also helped the team qualify from the seventh Doritos CS:GO Open Season 3: Open Qualifier. While it was on the lower tiers, he has had proven success with Swedish rosters.

Dignitas is aiming to hit the same highs they did in 2015 and 2016. Since those big wins in CS:GO Champions League Season 2 and EPICENTER 2016, their performances have stagnated. Their last tournament win was in the BLAST Nordic Masters: Spring 2021. Since then, their status as a mediocre team has kept them around the bigger tournaments, but they haven’t finished higher than the lower bracket quarterfinals. With the signing of SheddaN, the team hopes to improve and start taking those crucial steps back to the highs of their past.

While SheddaN’s experience has been at the lower levels of CS:GO play, his knowledge and experience make up for it. Now, it’s just the matter of making the pieces of the team fit and seeing whether their roster can go the run they need to make it back to the top.
