Showmaker and Canyon re-sign with Damwon Gaming

Damwon Gaming has announced that two of their star players have re-signed with the organization. Both players have signed a 2-year contract extension to compete in the LCK throughout 2020 and 2021. While the roster is long from complete, it’s a massive win for the team to retain two of their best players for two more seasons.

Damwon Gaming’s star players

The first player to re-sign today with the roster is Heo “Showmaker” Su. Showmaker has been the star of Damwon Gaming since 2017. He has been a part of the Damwon Roster since they first competed in Challengers Korea to qualify into the LCK. Back then, the team succeeded at this with an impressive 13-1 game score. In addition, Showmaker was with the team on their world championship run, where they ended up making it to the top 8 of the world. Damwon Gaming did lose out against G2 Esports in the quarter-finals, who managed to make it all the way through to the finals.

The second is Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu. Canyon is currently one of the youngest players in the LCK, at only 18 years old. He has been with Damwon Gaming since Sept 2018 and has served as the roster’s main jungle player since. Canyon is regarded by many as one of the best jungle players in the entire world, despite only competing for a little more than a year so far.

The remaining roster

The remaining roster of Damwon Gaming has not yet been announced, though it is rumored that Damwon Gaming is planning to retain the entire roster for another season. The main star that fans are on the lookout for is Jang “Nuguri” Ha-gwon. Nuguri is currently regarded as one of the top 3 top-lane players in the world and is infamous for his use of the old Kleptomancy rune on various champions. In an interview, Nuguri stated that he started using Kleptomancy to tilt his jungler, Canyon. However, he ended up popularizing this rune choice on his signature champion, Vladimir.

Officially, the contracts for Nuguri, Sin “Nuclear” Jeong-hyeon, Cho “BeryL” Geon-hee, and Ryu “Hoit” Ho-seong don’t end until Nov 2020. However, there have been rumors that several Chinese teams are interested in buying out these contracts for undisclosed amounts.
