After just two weeks of LEC Summer Split action, SK Gaming have decided to readjust their heavily criticized roster changes. The organization announced the return of Jesse “Jesiz” Le as head coach and the promotion of Philipp “Lilipp” Englert to the LEC support role. Lilipp is an SK Prime support player who joined the team in December 2020. As to this roster update, SK felt that while their early gameplay had improved, they needed Jesiz in the best role.

Before the beginning of Summer Split, SK made the decision to swap Jesiz from head coach to support. While their best player in that role, Erik “Treatz” Wessen, moved to the jungle. Unfortunately, this move has not paid off, as they currently sit at the bottom of the LEC standings with a 0-5 record.
Jesiz’ performance as SK Gaming support in LEC
When SK announced their changes for Summer Split, Jesiz made it clear that he had no intention of returning to professional play afterward. He also stated that he was ‘confident’ in his abilities, and it was a team request. After five LEC games played, Jesiz appears not to have settled in well. He died six times on the Nautilus in their first game against Astralis. Although Jesiz has looked very rusty when playing, he has managed to help his team pick up kills and assists. While SK’s early game is much better than the previous Split, they tend to fall apart in mid-game team fights. The poor positioning of several members of the team, including Jesiz, does not help their case at all. According to Oracle’s Elixir, he sits at the bottom of the KDA standings for support players in the LEC.
Who is Lilipp?
Lilipp is a 20-year-old German support signed in December 2020 for the Prime League Pro Division. He started his career in Europe back in 2018 and has moved through different teams across the region. Lilipp and his SK prime team currently sit in third place of the division standings, where they have only lost two games out of seven played. Lilipp’s champion pool includes; Thresh, Nautilus, Alistar, Leona, Yuumi, Rell, Pyke and several others.
While Lilipp has performed well in the Prime League so far, he is also nervous about his promotion to the LEC. The player posted a Tweet with part of the caption reading “I am really nervous tbh but I’m confident that I can improve a lot.” With the race for LEC Playoff spots heating up, the team needs wins to lift their spirits and build momentum.
SK Gaming return to the rift for more LEC action on June 25 at 1 p.m. ET, to face MAD Lions.
