Smash Bros. pro Mang0 gets week-long ban from Twitch after allegedly passing out drunk

Professional player or not, Twitch takes its code of conduct very seriously, especially if you pass out drunk during a stream. Mang0, a top Smash Bros. player, just got a week-long ban of his Twitch account following an incident that happened this past weekend.

Joseph “Mang0” Marquez is known as one of the top five best Super Smash Bros. Melee players. Last Sunday, he was streaming after watching a football game – the Philadelphia Eagles vs. the Chicago Bears. Mango was getting completely hammered and seemingly passed out live, much to the surprise of his viewers.

The short clip shows Mang0 with a bottle in his hand and slowly falling down. It’s been viewed over 75,000 times and was uploaded to a channel called “Twitch Fails,” which is probably not something any prominent streamer wants to gain notoriety for. After getting an email from Twitch stating why his account was banned, he took to Twitter almost making light of the situation.

It’s not really a laughing matter and while he may have been having a bit of fun, the stunt violated Twitch’s terms. Twitch came under fire recently when it allowed a man who assaulted his wife during a Fortnite stream back on. (The site has since banned the streamer again.)

What’s also interesting to note is before Mang0 was caught “passing out,” he was tweeting quite heavily about getting drunk that night. While this temporary ban may seem like a slap on the wrist, it will perhaps teach him to take it a bit easy on the drinks or at least do it off camera. He also came out saying that he didn’t actually pass out.

For the record..I didn’t pass out on stream.. I jokingly fell over to be funny because I wanted to take a break. Went downstairs to talk to my gf and came back and ended my stream.

It looked real enough to Twitch and the audience to warrant a week-long bang, though. Lesson learned hopefully.
