Splyce has officially announced their new roster going forward into the Black Ops 4 season. European superstar Jordan “Jurd” Crowley is joined by his North American brethren in an international alliance between nations. Splyce has slowly been revealing their roster player by player over the past week.

First appearing in Call of Duty esports during the Black Ops III season, Splyce has gradually become a staple organization. The past season has been their roughest yet with terrible placings besides second during CWL Birmingham. Moving forward, the organization looks to build an international roster for the upcoming year. The new Splyce roster is as follows:

  • Jordan “Jurd” Crowley (Captain)
  • Lamar “Accuracy” Abedi
  • Daniel “Loony” Loza
  • Ulysses “AquA” Silva
  • Donovan “Temp” Laroda

A Brief History

Over the past three seasons, Splyce has been regarded as a European team. They first found success in the Black Ops III season by becoming the first European team to reach a Call of Duty Championships finals. This roster was formed around Ben “Bance” Bance with longtime European duo Joseph “Joee” Pinnington and Rhys “Rated” Price. Due to internal team issues, the roster decided to make a change.

Splyce then picked up Dylan “MadCat” Daly and Jordan “Jurd” Crowley, forming the core roster for the next two seasons. The Infinite Warfare year was an even better year for the organization. With the addition of rising star, Trei “Zer0” Morris, the team reached newer heights. With this roster, they would take Stage 1 of the CWL Global Pro League 2017. This win marked them as the best team in the world for that short period of time. Fans of the Green Wall remember a time when Splyce was one of OpTic Gaming’s scariest opponents. This rivalry culminated in one of the most intense matches during Call of Duty Championships 2017, winners round two.

The subsequent World War II season has been a disappointment for Splyce. Riddled visa issues and a lack of team synergy, the squad would remain a below average team. The only silver lining in their year was bowing out to Luminosity Gaming in the finals of CWL Birmingham. Like OpTic Gaming, Splyce would take the backseat for other rising teams.

Bait and Switch

With the announcement of Call of Duty going five versus five, Splyce’s future was unsure. Some fans speculated that the organization might entirely pull out of the scene. However, team owner Marty “Lazerchickenzzz” Strenczewilk would confirm that they remain invested.

Showing expert knowledge in the art of baiting, Splyce would reveal their new roster one by one. The first player announced would be Lamar “Accuracy” Abedi, former Team Kaliber player and Call of Duty Championships 2018 finalist. On the same day, longtime Rise Nation member Daniel “Loony” Loza would announce his joining of the team on a Twit Longer. Unfortunately for Splyce, his statement accidentally revealed the remaining two members: Ulysses “AquA” Silva and Donovan “Temp” Laroda. As to be expected, Loony promptly removed his statement.

The following day, Splyce would reveal the remaining two members as AquA and Temp, both coming from the Echo Fox lineup. There has been a trend this off-season of European players branching and teaming up with North American players. Splyce looks to follow the likes of Team Reciprocity in forming a mixed-nation roster.

A Clash of Egos

One of the biggest things to take away from this roster is the number of voices on the team. All of these players on the roster have some form of personality. From Loony’s strict philosophy to approaching the game to Temp’s infamous bluntness. The biggest worry is how well this team will mesh during the infancy stages of the new game. Players such as Accuracy and Jurd are familiar with being at the top and differences in approaching the game may put the team at odds with each other.

There have been accusations thrown at Splyce that this roster was not their first choice. One could look at the team composition and understand that argument. Echo Fox, not having the best year, was always average at best. AquA and Temp never got the chance to shine throughout the World War II season.

Likewise, Accuracy could be seen as left in the dust by his former Team Kaliber teammates. While they would go off to join the prospective 100 Thieves roster, Accuracy remained a free agent. Loony shares a similar story. With his superstar teammates exploring other options, he would be left alone.

The New Villains?

However, it is hard to deny that this team does not pose a threat. Players like Jurd and AquA are dangerous opponents when it comes down to gunfights. An in-game leader such as Loony can steer the ship so efficiently while making clutch plays. It will come down to what meta forms in the upcoming game and how the team meshes. If the players’ roles fit with each other and are comfortable under the calling of Loony, we could see the resurgence of Splyce. One thing is for sure, Splyce has arguably put together a roster of villains – a team that many fans will cheer against. The coming months will show us if these players can back up all their talk.

The release of Black Ops 4 and the start of a new season is just around the corner. Stay tuned to Daily Esports for all your Call of Duty esports news, roster reports, and features.
