Following a good 2018 for mousesports, the organization is starting things afresh and has decided to part ways with Chris “chrisJ” de Jong and Martin “STYKO” Styk. Moreover, the coaching position has also been left vacant as the organization is also set to replace Sergey “lmbt” Bezhanov. The decision may be due to the recent failure of mousesports to qualify for the upcoming Major in Katowice, the very first time following an eight-streak Major appearance run.

ChrisJ has been part of the mousesports organization since 2013. That is a lengthy amount of time and it surely feels odd to depart from what he by now must call home. STYKO has been replaced last year by Janusz “Snax” Pogorzelski. In that time he has tried his wits as a stand-in for the struggling Cloud9 at ESL One Cologne as well as ELEAGUE Premier. He would then, however, return back to mousesports following an unsuccessful experiment with Snax.

A statement by the organization has been released. Miikka “sunNy” Kemppi has stated that they’re “Looking forward to a new and fresh chapter now, where we can be consistent contenders for titles again.” Following not qualifying for the Major, a fresh start is perhaps what the team needs right now.

Stefan Wendt, CEO of the German mousesports organization, gave the following comment on the matter in the official statement:

After the most successful season of our history, we already saw some issues within the team towards the end of the year and unfortunately we couldn’t turn it around in Katowice. To secure competitive success in 2019 we feel it is necessary that the team gets a fresh start. It’s a sad day for our organisation, as Sergey, Martin and Chris have been highly valued members of our team for a long time but we have to look forward and work hard to keep our place among the worlds best Counter-Strike teams.

Following the quite unexpected and abrupt departure of chrisJ and STYKO, the current lineup of mousesports looks as follows:

  • Miikka “sunNy” Kemppa
  • Tomáš “oskar” Šťastný
  • Robin “ropz” Kool

It is currently unknown who will be joining the lineup. As for now, mousesports has a total of three vacancies to fill, including the role of an in-game leader and AWPer – both of which were undertaken by chrisJ.

Perhaps the ex-FaZe Clan player, Finn “karrigan” Andersen would be one to consider? Karrigan is currently on loan at Team Envy and it is unknown if he will remain there. Let us know what you think and remember to follow us at Daily Esports for all the current news in the esports world.
