Summer 2019 MPGR ranks top 50 Super Smash Bros. Melee players
From July 23 – August 2, PGStats ranked the top 50 Super Smash Bros. Melee players in the world. Panelists ranked Melee players on the Summer 2019 MPGR based on their performances throughout the season, which lasted from December 17, 2018 – June 30, 2019. This marks Super Smash Bros. Melee’s third ranking season under the MPGR brand.

The Summer 2019 MPGR
Hungrybox maintained his No. 1 spot on the Summer 2019 MPGR. He has held this position for a year and a half, since the end of 2017. If he can hold this position until the end of the year, Hungrybox will tie Adam “Armada” Lindgren’s two-year record as No. 1 in the world. Armada was the best Melee player in the world from the summer of 2015 to the summer of 2017.
Wizzrobe and Axe made perhaps the most impressive gains to achieve No. 2 and No. 3 in the world, respectively. In the process, they outranked god-level players like Leffen, Mang0, and Plup for the first time. In addition, iBDW made it into the top 10 in the world for the first time ever. Similarly, Trif, moky, Captain Faceroll, and Ginger reached top 20 for the first time.
The ups and downs of Melee
Magi made the largest gains since the last ranking, moving up 49 spaces from No. 97 on the 2018 MPGR. A few other players made significant leaps on the Summer 2019 MPGR. Jakenshaken jumped 45 spaces, moky moved up 38, and FatGoku moved up 33. Notably, Medz made top 50 after failing to make top 100 on the 2018 MPGR. In addition, Bimbo appeared in the top 50 for the first time in his career.
Of course, other players fell off a good bit on the Summer 2019 MPGR. HugS moved down 27 spaces, while n0ne dropped 13 spaces. Some players fell out of the top 50 altogether. Many of these dropped out due to inactivity. Others simply fell off in terms of results.
