Super Smash Bros. fan launches Smashersoap

A fan of the Super Smash Bros. series has created a Smash-inspired line of soap products. Smashersoap, which was announced through a Twitter video on March 17, officially launched on April 1. The announcement video notes that “this is not a joke,” despite the April Fools’ Day launch.

The idea for Smashersoap arose out of the common perception that members of the Smash community smell bad. Created by a college student from Iowa, this soap brand is made from goat milk. The brand’s website notes that “the soaps will always stay with natural ingredients.” As a result, the website states it will “keep you cool and focused for your next fight.”

In keeping with its Super Smash Bros. theme, every type of soap is loosely based on a Smash Bros. character. The first wave of soaps includes four different soap types. These soaps are satirized versions of Donkey Kong, Falco, Marth, and Jigglypuff. While every bar of soap is the same shape, the color scheme of each is based on its respective character.

While only four types of Smashersoap are currently available, the creator plans to launch many more in the future. Every month, a new set of four soaps will become available for purchase. Eventually, the creator plans to make soaps parodying every single Super Smash Bros. fighter.

More about Smashersoap

For every bar of soap a player purchases, they will also receive a promotional sticker and a clothespin. The clothespin, dubbed a “nose parry adapter,” jokingly represents a nose plug. It is purportedly supposed to be used when facing an opponent who does not use Smashersoap. In addition to these, the first 100 orders will receive a limited edition holographic sticker.

To coincide with the launch of this new soap brand, the creator has also made a video game called #SoapBros. It is a free-to-play platform fighter, with gameplay unsurprisingly inspired by the Super Smash Bros. series. As new types of soaps become available, they will all have parallel playable characters in #SoapBros.

Super Smash Bros. enthusiasts can purchase their own Smash-inspired bar of soap at the online Smashersoap shop. Currently, products are available at a base price of $7.99, and shipping is restricted to the United States.
