Boost Mobile Supercars e-Series off and racing with Forza

Supercars esports series underway this week

The fastest players and drivers from all around are competing for the top title. The Supercars e-Series launched at the Melbourne Esports Open earlier this year. Simulation racers are currently battling it out on Forza Motorsport 7 for the championship. The series is currently in its first phase, called the “Shakedown.” The Shakedown runs all through this week. Drivers have the chance to set their fastest lap around the Bathurst circuit. This comes with perfect timing, as the Bathurst 1000 takes place this weekend.

Mount Panorama – Bathurst

The Bathurst 1000 is Supercars’ longest race of the year. Running at 1000 km, it takes around six hours from start to end of the race. This year marks the 60th Bathurst 1000 event. The iconic Mount Panorama Circuit is known around the world. It was the home of the first Australian Grand Prix back in 1938. It’s full of twists and turns, and some very windy hills. Forza Motorsport 7 features a full replica of the track in-game. This is the circuit of choice for the Supercars esports series Shakedown. Simulation drivers will set their fastest lap around the circuit in a Supercar. There’s no cutting corners or rewinding. This stage of the series will utilise Forza’s Rivals functionality. Once players have set their times, the top 32 fastest gamers will move through to the next stage.

Supercars e-Series

Following the Shakedown, the series will move into its elimination phase. The initial 32 drivers will be split into four races. They’ll compete head to head. The four fastest from each race will progress, whilst the bottom four will be eliminated. Eight drivers will remain after the elimination phase and will move into the Championship. The Championship will run from Oct. 16 to Nov. 20. During these weeks, six major rounds will be held. A round consists of qualifying, and three races. Each will be held on a different track in Forza Motorsport 7.

Finding a champion

This is very similar to the way Supercars runs its current physical world counterpart. Races will be roughly 20 minutes each, and players will score points based on their finishing position. At the end of the competition the driver with the most points will be crowned Champion. The eight drivers will be competing for a mixture of cash prizes, vouchers, and Supercars experiences. Competitors receive some nice tech for being part of the series.
