Riot Games has announced that Cloud9 jungler Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen will be named the Honda Most Valuable Player of the 2019 League of Legends Championship Series Summer Split. The Honda MVP award was introduced after Riot Games announced Honda as a partner of the LCS.

2019 LCS Summer Split Honda MVP

The 2019 LCS Summer Split Honda MVP started with 10 finalists. Four of the players were from Team Liquid, which consists of top laner Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong, jungler Jake “Xmithie” Puchero, bot laner Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng, and support Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in. Mid laners Henrik “Froggen” Hansen from Golden Guardians and Lee “Crown” Min-ho from OpTic Gaming were also included. Finally, Counter Logic Gaming support Vincent “Biofrost” Wang and jungler Raymond “Wiggily” Griffin along with Cloud9 mid-laner Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer and jungler Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen made up the last four.

The 10 finalists were shortened to a top five and then shortened one player each among four consecutive rounds. The top three came down to Team Liquid’s CoreJJ and Doublelift along with Cloud9’s Svenskeren. This vote then went down to CoreJJ – who had already won MVP of the Split for the 2019 LCS Spring Split – and Svenskeren. The panelists included the LCS broadcast team, third-party media, and pro players themselves.

Cloud9’s Svenskeren

Dennis “Svenskeren” Johnsen is a jungler for Cloud9, but he also plays for Cloud9’s Academy team. He joined the North American esports organization in November of 2017. He also played under teams like Team SoloMid, SK Gaming, and Ninjas in Pyjamas. Cloud9 went on to place 2nd at 2018’s NA LCS Summer Split along with 2019’s Spring and Summer Splits.

Cloud9 play their next match against Team Liquid in the 2019 LCS Summer Split finals on Aug 25 in Detroit.
