T1 announce autimatic and Ska are leaving their VALORANT squad

T1 make sweeping changes to their VALORANT roster

T1 have announced the release of Tyler “Ska” Latham and Timothy “autimatic” Ta from their VALORANT roster. Ska has been with the team since early 2020 and will now leave the team as they rebuild after not having enough circuit points to make it into the VALORANT Champions Tour Last Chance Qualifier in October 2021.

The departure of Ska and autimatic comes as no surprise as there were earlier reports of Braxton “brax” Pierce, Ska and Anthony “dawn” Hagopian leaving the team. The changes come through as T1 aim to make sweeping changes to their VALORANT roster. Most notably, the addition of Joshua “steel” Nissan from 100 Thieves would establish a new in-game leader for the T1 team, and the rebuild will likely center around steel.

On the other hand, autimatic has been linked to a return to Counter Strike: Global Offensive. The previous Major winner is rumored to reunite with his old teammate — Team Liquid’s former spitfire Jacky “Stewie2K” Yip. The two previously played together in 2018 when they were on Cloud9 and won the ELEAGUE Major: Boston. As the only North American team to win a Major, it seems Evil Geniuses are set on bringing back the duo. Recent reports also point toward T1 signing young talent Josh “pwny” VanGorder, who is a Duelist but could switch to another role within the team.

Despite their status as one of the first teams to enter competitive VALORANT during the game’s early days, T1 have not been able to find success in the VALORANT as a competitive esport. They were able to make it into the VCT Stage 3 Challengers tournaments. However, they never earned enough points to compete in VALORANT Champions, the largest VALORANT event of the year, or to take part in the North American LCQ.
