“We are excited to support and work with him while exploring the next steps in his career,” the statement read.

Tarik’s own statement

Over on tarik’s own Twitter account, he provided a link to a TwitLonger. In the post, he stated he was unhappy about not meeting expectations of a world-class CS:GO team.

“It’s been very up and down, but mostly down lately,” tarik wrote. “Our results as a team have been lackluster and led to the decision of me benching myself. By no means do I think I was playing well throughout the hardships but I believe that even with our new lineup that underlying issues had still existed.”

He added that his approach to the team issues was different compared to everyone else. He noted his respect for their decision, however, he concluded that he no longer wanted to be part of the project.

“I still take part in the responsibility of not being able to elevate our team to a consistent top level, and I do not believe one individual is at fault,” he wrote.

Although the CS:GO players won as a team, they also lost as a team. Tarik wished the Evil Geniuses success even without him.

Currently, he will be reflecting on his time with his former CS:GO team. He has plans to get back into form as well. In the meantime, he will also be streaming.

Evil Geniuses and the future

In 2020, tarik achieved first place alongside his team in CS:GO tournaments under the Evil Geniuses banner. These included the ESL One Cologne 2020 Online event and the BLAST Premier Spring American Finals.

Michał “MICHU” Müller took tarik’s place in the active Evil Geniuses CS:GO roster. MICHU used to play for teams like Virtus.Pro and Team Envy.
