Team France introduce Overwatch World Cup roster

Team France announced their roster for the 2019 Overwatch World Cup with seven players to represent the country at November’s BlizzCon. The French team introduced a prior roster with 12 players earlier during the summer in a shortlist to fans. However, certain roles only had one player while there were seven players for the DPS role.

The announcement comes with a theatrical video showcasing each of the players in an animated form. The final roster is considered late when compared to other teams like South Korea. The three-time world champions came out with their final roster on the first of August. This announcement also raised questions from fans as it is made up of mostly Overwatch Contenders players.

Team France

Team France reduced the prior seven DPS players to three, which include one Overwatch League and two Overwatch Contenders players. DPS player Terence “SoOn” Tarlier from Paris Eternal is placed in the main hitscan role. North American Contenders team Revival’s Jeremy “Hqrdest” Danton will play as the secondary hitscan DPS. European Contenders team Gigantti’s Lucas “Leaf” Loison will then play flex DPS.

European Overwatch Contenders team Samsung Morning Stars’ Simon “Chubz” Vullo will play as Team France’s main tank. Overwatch League franchise Philadelphia Fusion’s Gael “Poko” Gouzerch, who is known for his Poko Bombs on D.Va, will play off-tank instead. European Contenders team Young and Beautiful’s Brice “FDGod” Monsçavoir will play in the main support role. Paris Eternal’s Damien “HyP” Souville will then play flex support.

It is certainly unique to have most of the players brought over from Overwatch Contenders instead of the Overwatch League. The 2019 Overwatch World Cup will feature two groups at the BlizzCon Anaheim Convention Center on Nov. 1.

Is Team South Korea going to remain the champion this year, or will there be an upset instead? Let us know in the comments, and keep up with all of the latest Overwatch news and content here at Daily Esports.
