North American esports organization Team Liquid emerged victorious in the 2019 League of Legends Championship Series Summer Split Finals over Cloud9. This is Team Liquid’s fourth straight title in the LCS, a true back-to-back-to-back-to-back victory.

Team Liquid win LCS
Team Liquid defeated Clutch Gaming with 3 wins and 2 losses in the Semifinals. During the finals, Team Liquid won the first game, and Cloud9 took the next two. Unfortunately, Cloud9 were not able to find any openings in games 4 and 5. Team Liquid mid-laner Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen was also announced to have won the Player of the Series award.
With this first-place finish at the 2019 LCS Summer Playoffs, Team Liquid will take home a $100,000 prize pool. The esports organization will also qualify for the 2019 World Championships Main Event. Of course, Team Liquid had already qualified for Worlds through Championship Points during the Spring and Summer Splits beforehand. Similarly, Cloud9 has also qualified as the second seed.
2019 World Championships
The third and last seed will be determined through the 2019 LCS Regional Finals, also known as the Gauntlet. Four teams – Clutch Gaming, Counter Logic Gaming, Team SoloMid, and FlyQuest – will compete for a chance to go to the Worlds Play-Ins Stage. The 2019 LCS Regional Finals will consist of a single-elimination King of the Hill bracket with best of five matches in three rounds. The placement of teams in rounds is also determined by the Championship Points.
24 teams will be invited to contest for the 2019 League of Legends World Championships trophy from Oct 2 to Nov 10. The Play-Ins Stage will happen in Berlin at the LEC Studio. Following that, the Groups Stage will take place at the Verti Music Hall, also in Berlin. Eight teams will then emerge from the Groups Stage to the Quarterfinals and Semifinals at the Palacio Vistalegre in Madrid, Spain. Finally, the Grand Finals will take place at the AccorHotels Arena in Paris, France.
So far, other than Team Liquid and Cloud9, Griffin along with SK Telecom T1 have qualified for the 2019 LCK Championship Points from the Korea region. J Team, formerly known as Taipei Assassins, and ahq Esports Club have also qualified from the LMS region. Finally, G2 Esports has already qualified for the Play-In Stage, but they can still contest for other seeds through the LEC Summer Split Playoffs. G2 Esports play against Fnatic on Aug 31.
