Team Liquid reportedly acquire Fnatic jungler Broxah

North American esports organization Team Liquid is reportedly acquiring former Fnatic jungler Mads “Broxah” Brock-Pedersen. The 22-year-old Danish player will replace Jake “Xmithie” Puchero on the League of Legends roster, after his contract expired on Nov. 18.

Team Liquid acquire Broxah

While Team Liquid is considered the #1 team in North America, the team hasn’t performed as well at international events. Team Liquid has achieved consistent first-place finishes during the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) but has only achieved 9 – 12th place in its last two world championship appearances. In comparison, Fnatic placed 2nd during the 2018 iteration and 5 – 8th in the most recent.

Broxah started competing in 2016 as a substitute jungler for the Copenhagen Wolves. He then played for organizations like Tricked Esports, Last Remedy, and Epiphany Bolt. In 2016, Broxah joined the Fnatic organization with a role on the Academy lineup, where the team placed 2nd during the 2017 European Challenger Series (EUCS) Split. He was then promoted to the main lineup after only three months, with an initial 3rd place finish in the EU LCS 2017 Spring Playoffs.

Leaving his role on Fnatic

During Broxah’s time on Fnatic, the team consistently achieved first place from the 2017 EU LCS Summer Split until the 2019 LEC Spring Split. The United Kingdom-based organization also achieved 5 – 8th at the 2017 World Championships and 3 – 4th in the 2018 Mid-Season Invitational, with losses at both events to Royal Never Give Up (RNG).

The addition of Broxah will be welcomed as Fnatic has consistently achieved better results in the League of Legends European Championship (LEC), where teams are at a higher skill level. Can Team Liquid find success with Broxah in the 2020 World Championship? Or will the changes to other North American rosters offset that success?
