Team Secret signs Bren Esports’ VALORANT roster

The talent, and the circuit points, move to Team Secret

Team Secret has entered the VALORANT competitive circuit by signing the former Bren Esports roster. Only yesterday, Bren Esports announced that its VALORANT team has “decided to explore and review other possible opportunities” after the team was unable to attend the VCT Stage 3 Masters in Berlin.

The Team Secret roster now consists of:

  • Jessie “JessieVash” Cristy Cuyco
  • Jayvee “DubsteP” Paguirigan
  • Jim “BORKUM” Timbreza
  • Kevin “Dispenser” Te
  • Riley “witz” Go
  • Coach Gilbert “Gibo” Sales Jr.

Despite Bren’s historic win for the Philippines in the VCT SEA Challengers Stage 3 against Paper Rex, the team were still not able to secure the necessary visas required to enter Germany, amid the global pandemic. The community rallied together on social media to draw the attention of potential parties that could help them, but the organization made an announcement citing that it had already “exhausted all possible options that would enable our team to travel to Berlin.”

This means SEA only has one representative going to Berlin in Paper Rex, and the VCT Masters schedule was changed slightly in absence of the Bren Esports team.

Team Secret’s teaser

On the day Bren announced parting with its VALORANT roster, Team Secret put out a teaser tweet of them entering the VALORANT competitive scene, with many speculating that the roster would be formed of ex-Bren players.

Even though the roster has left Bren Esports, the rules state that “the circuit points will remain with the roster of players if three of the five sign to the same org.” This means Team Secret gets Bren’s current total circuit points of 225, retaining the chance to fight for qualification to VCT Champions at the end of the year.

Despite being a European organization that is mostly known for its presence in Dota 2, Team Secret does have a sizable overall footprint in the SEA region, which will grow after grabbing Bren Esports’ VALORANT talent. The organization has a PUBG Mobile team in Malaysia, a League of Legends roster in Vietnam and a Wild Rift team that also hails from the Philippines.
