Blizzard has just announced the location of the next Hearthstone global finals. This year, the world championship of Hearthstone will take place at BlizzCon 2019. BlizzCon 2019 is set to be hosted once again in Anaheim, California at the Anaheim Convention Center. This time around, eight players will compete for their share of $500,000, the trophy, and the title of the 2019 Hearthstone World Champion.

Who will compete at the Hearthstone World Championship

With Hearthstone Grandmasters going on this year, the winner of the Hearthstone Grandmaster playoffs will qualify for the Hearthstone World Championship. One player will qualify from each region — the Americas, Asia-Pacific, and Europe — from each season of Hearthstone Grandmasters. This will bring the total amount of qualified players up to 6, once Hearthstone Grandmasters ends in October.

Players can earn the remaining two slots for the Hearthstone World Championships through China’s Gold Open Series playoffs event. These events will take place on July 20 and Oct. 6. Spots for the Gold Open Series playoffs event are earned through competing at the Gold Series Open tournaments. These tournaments are hosted throughout all major cities of China, and they bring out thousands of competitors for each event.

This weekend will serve as the first opportunity to qualify for the Hearthstone World Championship, as the Hearthstone Grandmasters playoffs start on Friday, July 12 around the world. Each region’s playoff event will stream the matches live on the official PlayHearthstone Twitch channel.

So far, we know of 6 players guaranteed to make it into the Grandmasters Playoffs event. For the Asia-Pacific region, these qualified players include “Shaxy”, “Dawn”, and Tyler “Tyler” Hoang Nguyen. For the Americas region, two players have made it so far: Frank “Frozen” Zhang and Eddie “Eddie” Lui. Last up, for the European region, only Chris “Fenomeno” Tsakopoulos has qualified currently.
